Punjas and Digicel Fiji have secured the naming rights for the 2022 National Netball Championship.
The championship will be called the Punjas Digicel National Championship. Commencing on the 13th October, the 3 days competition will see a total of 58 teams’ from 20 Netball Associations competing for the top spot.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Digicel Fiji CEO Mr. Farid Mohamed said that Digicel is delighted to sponsor the National Championship in partnership with the Punjas Group.
“It’s a privilege to support one of Fiji’s most popular sports, the National Championship which is set to bring together about 60 teams’ from 20 associations for three days of thrilling competition,” said Mr. Mohamed.
“We are glad to see that netball is in a great space today and this has been on the back of our involvement in growing the sport from the grassroots level with this partnership stretching back to 2014. For girls and women around the country, the competition stands out as an example of teamwork, resilience and leadership. We are committed to backing this incredible community and women’s sport. We look forward to continuing to support the growth of netball for many more seasons to come,” added Mr. Mohamed.
Punjas PTE Ltd, Group Marketing Manager Mr. Gopal Jadhav said: “We are very happy to continue our sponsorship for the Fiji Netball National Championship for year 2022-2023.”
“As you are aware, Punjas has a long history in supporting all forms of sporting activities and we have successfully completed our previous year’s sponsorship with Fiji Netball” added Mr. Gopal.
Netball Fiji President Mrs. RubyAnn Sorovaki said that this sponsorship speaks volumes of Digicel and Punjas commitment for women and the development of netball across the country.
She added, “This tournament is going to be exciting and is vital to our plans for the next 4 years in terms of both building on our High-Performance plan and having our minor and island associations come back into the fold,” said Mrs. Sorovaki.
“We cannot thank them both enough for standing by us through the last 8 years and through the hardest of times,” added Mrs. Sorovaki.

Venue: National Netball Centre (Suva)
Official Launch: Press Conference at Digicel Headquarters– 4th October, 2022 at 10.00pm
National Championship has 4 grades and all of Netball Fiji affiliated members and invitee associations will take part.

- Premier – 12 teams
- Mens – 14 teams
- Senior – 12 teams
- National – 20 teams
Total 58 teams from 20 associations.
