NewsRa and Naboutini bring in the heat at Punjas Digicel National Championship

Ra is the newly crowned 2022 Punjas Digicel National Championship Senior Division Champion while Suva White secured the National 18U Division in yesterdays epic final at the National Netball Centre, Suva.

For the main division of the competition Nasinu Gold clinched the 2022 Punjas Digicel National Netball Championship Premier Womens Champion after beating Suva Bay in the finals while Suva Warriors beat the Suva Knights in the Mens division to claim the Mens tile. 

The senior and National 18U finalists Ra and Suva Whites met a strong Naboutini Senior and National sides in the grand finale, the Naboutini teams were determined to take both titles back to Kadavu but fell short 30 -22 to Suva white in the Nationals final, and 20 – 18 to Ra in the Senior final.

It was an enthralling finals for both the senior and National Division as fans were treated to some swift and mesmerising plays which captivated the spectators.

The finals for both division showed how Netball is not only going up another level but in fact is evolving and developing in the grassroot level as teams from the Maritime zones and other parts of the Country continue to progress at the National competition level.

Ra and Naboutini both entered the competition as invitational teams, both teams came in and made a statement, Naboutini head coach Reapi Sivo said that they came in prepared and determined to secure both titles.

“We’re thankful to Netball Fiji for inviting us to this competition, we knew what we’re going up against and we came in fully prepared to win the Senior and National Divisions,” said Sivo

Ra Netball head coach Selina Baleisasa said that they knew the competition will be on another level so they had to execute and contest at that level.

“We’re very thankful to our supporters our sponsor, the Vanua of Ra and we’d like to dedicate this win to all, we knew what we’ll be up against in this years National Championship so we had to prepare our team well,” added coach Baleisasa.
