The Secondary School Netball Finals will take place from the 6th – 8th of October, 2022 at the National Netball Centre, Suva.
Finalists from the 18 zones of the Fiji Secondary School Netball Association were invited to the Secondary School Finals. Teams will compete in six grades, 14 & Under, 15 & Under, 17 & Under, 19 & Under, Open grade, and Open Boys grade.
A total of 133 schools from 17 zones will take part in 3 days of competition, 16 schools will compete for the 14 & Under the title, 28 schools for the 15 & Under, 30 Schools for the 17 & Under, 19 Schools for the 19 & Under, 24 schools for the Open grade and 16 schools for the Open Boys grade.
Rotorua College is an invitational team from NZ who will compete in the U15 grade.
Pool Games are scheduled for Thursday and Friday morning. Quarterfinals are to be played on Friday afternoon while Semi-Finals and Finals will take place on Saturday.
Fiji Secondary School Netball Association president Mrs. Karalaini Seruiratu explained that the Secondary School Netball Finals has continued to grow over the years.
Mrs. Seruiratu is anticipating an exciting tournament this year, she emphasised that all teams are fully prepared for this year’s tournament.
“It will be an exciting event where all school teams are coming with one mission to win and go back with grade winner title. Defending champion Suva Grammar and Adi Cakobau are working extra hard to defend the titles and they know other teams are coming prepared too,” said Seruiratu.
“In the Open Grades, Nabala Secondary School will defend the Open Grade and Vunimono High School will defend the Boys Grade title. The western schools and the North will try to create upset in this tournament,” added Seruiratu.
Netball Fiji President Mrs. RubyAnn Sorovaki said “ netball in Fiji is only going to grow from strength to strength when our affiliates organize competitions of this caliber.”
She added that it would be an exciting tournament after a 2 year lapse and congratulated Secondary Schools Netball for getting this tournament of the ground despite it being a busy school calendar year.
Punjas and Sons Limited and Coca Cola have jumped onboard to support this years Secondary Schools Netball Finals.
