Fiji Men’s Netball team are the 2025 Fiji Men’s Invitational champions after a thrilling 56-54 win over the New Zealand Netblacks.
In a fast-paced and hard-fought match, both teams went point by point, keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats. Fiji continues to build the momentum right to the final minutes to secure the narrow victory and claimed the inaugural Fiji Men’s Netball Invitational on home soil.
Fiji A secured third place at the 2025 Men’s Invitational Netball Tournament with a hard-fought win over Tonga.
New Zealand Netblacks captain Jaz Simpson added how crucial it is for them to continue exposing men’s netball throughout the region, Jaz said that such move will help build momentum and raise the level of competitiveness for Men’s netball in the Pacific.
“I think it’s exciting that we can branch out into new regions, developing relationships with different countries and just really solidify those relationships and develop the game, we can do it together and elevate the game together.”
Fiji Men’s team captain Kitione Waqavonovono said that they aimed to convince other international men’s team to take on the Fiji Men’s team.
“Hopefully we get to host a lot more international game.”
“We’re hoping that this has set the platform to convince more international teams to come to Fiji to come and test themselves up against the Fiji Men’s netball team,” said Waqavonovono.
“To test what men’s netball is like in Fiji because we can certainly compete against the best in the world, so maybe our performance will convince that more teams to come.”
