Netball Fiji development team continued their development clinic in Naitasiri over the weekend.
Netball Fiji representatives Losalini Bainivalu and Yvonne Vaka organized a umpires refresher course and technical officials’ workshop Nabukaluka Primary School.
Bainivalu is National umpire’s coordinator while Vaka is one of the top umpires in the country having achieved her New Zealand umpire badge.The program was organized to target schoolteachers within the Waidina cluster, a total of 16 teachers were trained and went through netball rules refresher and technical official scoring.
Mrs. Bainivalu explained the importance of upskilling the teachers around the country on the fundamentals of running the sport.
“We covered all these various topics because these teachers are the ones that’ll be training their teams, officiating their competition and running the sport in schools.”
A total of 16 teachers, from around the Waidina cluster were part of the program.
Netball Fiji continues to reach out to various communities to deliver development programs and continuing to ramp up its capacity building effort.
Developing trainings and workshops together with stakeholders including Fiji National Sports Commission remains a priority for Netball Fiji, with the goal to continue building and upskilling people’s knowledge of the game which will enhance the growth of netball in Fiji.
