Netball Fiji is pleased to announce the final 35-member extended squad, including both locally based athletes and overseas-based players who have been actively competing in various leagues and have expressed their commitment to representing Fiji.
The entire squad have all been in training in their respective clubs and overseas leagues and locally as a 15-member squad under Assistant Coach Vaiti Waqatabu and will now be involved in intensive cross training camps and tournaments both in Fiji
and abroad in the lead up to NWYC.
The NWYC will be held in Gibraltar September and this squad of 35 players will be participating in tournaments and games pre NWYC to ensure depth in selection and that they are in peak condition for the tournament.
Baby Pearls Head Coach Simone Nalatu said, “We are excited to bring together a strong and talented young group of athletes, both from within Fiji and abroad. The local squad have been very committed and training well on the ground at home. Their hard work here coupled with the commitment shown by our overseas-based players to be part of this journey speaks volumes about the growth and depth of Fijian netball talent.”
On the 8th of April the local squad will begin a 5-day training camp with Head Coach Simone following which a 15-member team will be named to travel and play 5 matches in the Ruby North Series from the 23rd to the 28th of April.
Netball Fiji acknowledges the unwavering support of the PacificAusSports program to ensure we can continue to build on our preparations for the World Youth Cup in September in Gibraltar. Netball Fiji extends its appreciation to the players, coaches, and support staff for their dedication and commitment. We also acknowledge the unwavering support from our sponsors, stakeholders, and fans as we build towards a successful campaign.
