The Fiji Pearls secured the second place Silver Medal at the Pacific Games after an intense showdown that saw them narrowly miss out on the Gold, falling short by four points against Tonga Tala 52 – 56.
The showdown between the Tonga Tala and Fiji Pearls showcased some electric atmosphere with an early momentum from both team in the first quarter.
The Tala has earned the title of Pacific Netball Queens. The Pearls, however, fought relentlessly until the final moments, keeping the audience captivated with a thrilling performance.
Una Rokoura, head coach of the Fiji Pearls, was thankful for her team’s determination, stating, “I’m incredibly proud of the girls for their commitment throughout the week, they showcased brilliant skills and played their hearts out until the final whistle.”
“We entered today’s game with a clear goal of clinching the Gold, while we missed out on a few crucial plays that Tonga capitalized on, I commend my team for leaving everything on the court, and congratulations to Tonga for their well-deserved win,” Rokoura added.
Coach emphasised on the essence of sporting competitions, saying, “We aimed for the Gold and fell short, but that’s the nature of competitions. What truly matters is the spirit and effort our team displayed.”
