The Lautoka Netball Umpires Association recently conducted an umpires clinic specifically for the upcoming umpires in the Ra province. Umpires from Ra, Rakiraki, and Vatukaloko attended the clinic, where they were taught the fundamentals of umpiring netball games.
Umpiring plays a crucial role in netball as they ensurefair play and game control. By focusing on developing umpiring skills, the aim is to improve the officiating of games, leading to increased participation and better competition among teams.
When umpires reach a high level of expertise, the overall quality of netball in the areas they officiate will also improve.
By training umpires from Ra and improving the standard of umpiring in local netball competitions, the goal is to enhance team participation and enable them to join in the current Umpires Pathway.
This training of umpires and building on the base of umpires in the country is one of the strategic initiatives set by the Executive Committee of Fiji Netball to align with the vision of lifting everyone around the Fiji Pearl athlete-umpires, managers, coaches, bench officials and administrators.
