Twin Sisters Litia Ledua and Vani Tuvukimairatucadra are following the same path to represent Fiji at World Netball Arena.
The 17-year-old twins played for Jasper Williams High School in the Secondary School Championship, Vani in the 19&U grade while Litia played in the 17&Under.
They were invited to the National Academy trials and earned selection into the Netball Fiji Academy programme.
Vani explained that their selection into the Academy is a huge step as they’re now transitioning into the next phase of their Netball Journey.
“For us, this is such a huge step as we’re now moving on to the next level, we will learn a lot and improve and move forward. Being part of this Academy will help us a lot in improving our Techniques and help build our game. We are both very blessed to be here and we thank God for guiding us through,” said Vani.
For Litia, having her sister with her in the Academy means that she has someone to look up to for motivation, someone that will set the bar for both of them to reach. She knows that being in this new environment (Academy) will contribute to their growth and help them excel.
“I really loved the experience at the Netball Academy and I did not dream of ever joining a Netball Academy but here I am with my sister and we’re part of the first ever Netball Academy in Fiji.”
I am happy that she’s in the 19&U grade and now I have someone to look up to, I thank God for what he has in store for me, I’ve always dreamt of becoming a Fiji Pearl, and joining the Academy is the first step of achieving my dream, attending the first training camp I learned much more then I’ve known about Netball, I did not expect this and I learned more about Netball techniques. I am really thankful to be part of this Academy programme,” said Litia.
Litia knows that there is much more hope for the younger generation of Netballers today as there is now a pathway system that will help guide them through up to the highest level of their Netball journey.
“Having the Academy will mean a lot for the young generation as we will now develop our skills and it will help us a lot.”
