NewsNetball Fiji Strengthens Governance with Transitional Oversight Committee

Netball Fiji has taken a progressive step towards strengthening governance, transparency, and accountability by establishing its Transitional Oversight Committee (TOC).

As the organisation moves into a new phase of reform, the TOC brings together experienced leaders from across sport, corporate, and legal sectors. Importantly, this transition is being supported through collaboration with former executives and committee members, ensuring continuity and a unified approach to rebuilding and strengthening Netball Fiji.

Transitional Oversight Committee (TOC)

Vasiti Vugakoto – Chairperson

Ms. Vasiti Vugakoto, a former Fiji international netball player, leads the committee as Chair. She has served as President of the Suva Netball Association and Lomaiviti Netball Club, and currently holds the role of General Manager, Institutional Banking at BRED Bank Fiji. A recipient of the Fiji 50th Independence Commemorative Medal, Ms. Vugakoto holds Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of the South Pacific and Masters Business Administration from Washington DC. She brings strong
leadership, governance, and corporate expertise to guide Netball Fiji through its transition.

Wati Seeto – Legal Advisor 

Ms. Wati Seeto is a highly respected legal professional with over 25 years of experience in law, financial regulation, and governance. A former Financial Services Ombudsperson and Vice President of the Fiji Law Society, she also previously served as Vice President of Netball Fiji (2007–2010). Her expertise in compliance, consumer protection, and governance will help strengthen Netball Fiji’s legal and institutional framework.

Dorothy Prasad – Assistant Treasurer

Ms. Dorothy Prasad is a respected netball administrator and former President of the Lautoka Netball Association. She has been instrumental in developing netball in the Western Division, strengthening participation and pathways for players and officials.
She is also the Director and Operations Manager at Calcoup Knitwear Quality Assured in Nadi, bringing
valuable financial and operational experience to the committee.

Alumeci Vosararawa-Sachs – Secretary

With over 27 years in netball development, Ms Alumeci Vosararawa-Sachs is the founder and Head Coach of the Grasshoppers Netball Club and a former Fiji U21 Assistant Coach (2009 World Youth Cup). A recent President of the Suva Netball Association (2024–April 2026), she holds international coaching accreditation and postgraduate qualifications from the University of the South Pacific. She is committed to driving constitutional reform and strengthening high-performance pathways in Fiji netball.

Supporting Committee Members and Former Executives
Working alongside the TOC are experienced former executives and committee members who continue to
play an important role in supporting the transition:

RubyAnn Sorovaki – Co-Chair, Transitional Oversight Committee
Mrs. Sorovaki brings leadership experience and continuity to the transition process, supporting strategic
direction and collaboration across the committee.

Kitione Waqavonovono – Committee Member & Legal Advisor (2026)
Mr Waqavonovono contributes legal insight and advisory support, ensuring sound governance practices
throughout the transition period.

Myrtle Smith – Assistant Secretary (2026)
Ms Smith supports administrative coordination and organisational processes, helping maintain operational
continuity during the transition.

Courtney Bitu – Treasurer (2026)
Ms Bitu oversees financial management for the transitional period, ensuring accountability and
transparency in financial operations.

The establishment of the Transitional Oversight Committee reflects Netball Fiji’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and long-term sustainability. By combining the expertise of newly appointed members with the experience of former executives, Netball Fiji is taking a collaborative and inclusive approach to reform, one that prioritizes accountability
while building a stronger foundation for the future of the sport. 

Chair Ms. Vasiti Vugakoto emphasized the significance of this new chapter:
“2026 is our year for Netball Fiji. With the strength of this Transitional Oversight Committee, we are focused on restoring trust, strengthening our systems, and building a high-performance environment. We are determined to rise again on the world stage and climb back up the world rankings where Fiji netball belongs.”

governed, and thriving netball environment for all Fijians.
