Netball Fiji Development Unit held the National Umpires examination across 9 districts last weekend.
A total of 9 districts Nasinu, Rewa, Naitasiri, Namosi, Nadroga, Navosa, Nadi, Lautoka and Yasawa took part in the exam for 2025 /2026 season.
The Central and Eastern participants exam was held at Salvation Army Hall with Umpires Manager Mrs Losalini Bainuvalu as supervisor, west umpires held their exams at Lawaqa Park VIP lounge in Sigatoka supervised by SDO Ms. Lusiana Rakavono and at Drasa Avenue School with Mr Thomas Hicks as supervisor.
Netball Fiji Development Coordinator Gabriell Qoro said that it was encouraging to see the interest from young and energetic individuals who would love to take on the responsibility to become a Netball Official.
Participants are required to pass their respective badges in order to advance and to be able to officiate at National tournaments.
“The examinations not only were targeted at the Fiji Umpires but also to those that would love to pursue an interest in Bench Officiating or Scorer as we all know.”
Koro Island also had a participant who sat for his National A badge exam at Koro High School.
“This examination falls in line with our new Netball Fiji Pathway in developing our Officials from Grassroot level and build on becoming Regional and International official.”
“Netball Fiji also would like to thank the supervisors at these different centers, who managed to ensure everything ran well during our exams.
“We also would like to thank our only participant from Koro seating for the National A Badge Umpire at Koro High School. A special gratitude to the Vice Principal for Supervising our lone examiner from Koro Island.”
The National umpire’s exam saw a total of 45 participants attempting the National Examinations from National C, B and A Badges respectively.
