Netball Fiji is pleased to announce the 15-member Baby Pearls team for their upcoming trip to Townsville, Queensland, Australia. The team will depart tomorrow, Wednesday 23rd, to participate in Netball Queensland’s Ruby North competition.
The competition is part of the Netball Queensland initiative aimed at providing elite netball opportunities for the finest athletes in the state’s central and northern regions. Baby Pearls head coach Simone Nalatu knows that the competition will be crucial for the players to experience “different style of play and different opponents.”
Coach Nalatu said “We’re really excited to be part of the Competition and the opportunity to play a different level of Netball. So excited that we can bring a majority of our local players across to get that exposure and to learn about game intensity and being able to adapt to various styles of the game because NWYC is going to be another level.”
The team will play three matches on Saturday, 26th April, followed by two more matches on Sunday, 27th April. Following this tour, 6 local based players will remain in Australia and undergo a 2-week High Performance Training Program.
