Two members of the Fiji Pearls left our shores last weekend to play in the 2025 Malaysia Netball Super League Season(NSL)
The two players are Goal Defender Reama Verekauta, and Goal Shooter Matila Vocea.
Verekauta and Vocea will play for the Terrengganu Marvels where they’ll spend two months, the NSL will commence on the 8th of February and finals are scheduled on the 23rd of March.
The two players are thankful to Malaysia Netball for providing an opportunity for them to compete in their 2025 Super League competition.
Verekauta said that this opportunity will allow them to grow as an athlete while also allow to immerse in different culture.
“Playing with the Terengganu Marvels means a lot to me. It’s an incredible opportunity to grow both as an athlete and as an individual. Being here, far from home in Fiji, allows me to immerse myself in a different culture and learn from the diverse experiences of my teammates. It’s inspiring to be part of a group that strives for excellence, and I’m excited to contribute my skills while learning from the seasoned players around me.”
The crossover to the Malaysia Super League will also assist the two players with their game time exposure, which will be valuable for the FinanceHub Super League campaign when they return.
Verekauta was also part of the six Fiji Pearls members that played in the 2023 Singapore Deloitte Netball Super League which included Nina Nakula, Elina Drikibau, Unaisi Rauluni, Sereana Maragi and Jimaima Kete.
The two players will be returning at the end of the season on 23rd of March.
