The Fiji Pearls have continued with their preparation campaign under interim coach Jioweli Vakamoce in the lead up to the PacificAus Netball Series which is schedule for 17th February at the Nissan Arena in Brisbane.
The Fiji Pearls extended squad held their fitness session and trials on Saturday 4th January at the HPU Gym, Laucala.
Mr. Vakamoce said that the first stage of finalizing the team is done, and he is now working with his coaching staff to assess each players performance and fitness before finalizing their selection process.
“We completed our trials and fitness test last Saturday, we are now currently preparing a report on the results before we finalize our selection, the final team should be confirmed by sometimes this week.”
Mr. Vakamoce was the main curator behind the Fiji Men’s victory at the Nations Cup in Singapore, however, Vakamoce knows that new opportunity comes with its own hurdles and this is something that he likes to challenge himself with.
“This is an opportunity for me that comes with its challenges, with the short period to prepare the girls for a ranking tournament, I’m thankful for the support that I’m getting, and I also know that I am ready to take on this challenge,” said Vakamoce.
“We will continue with our training on Wednesday. I’m working closely with our SNC coaches on the schedule of body conditioning and fitness.”
“This remaining week will be an intensive one which I’ve already talked to the team about. We will be focusing on our court skills, combinations and reaffirming our structures.”
