The Fiji Gujarati Sports Association has seen an increase interest for Netball as more participants are taking part in the game in Fiji Gujarati competitions.
The 2024 FGSA Netball Tournament was held on the 4th August at the FMF Gymnasiun where 8 teams from around the Country participated in the one-day Tournament.
Players also came in from New Zealand to participate in the 2024 FGSA tournament. Autocare Lami Seals clinched the 2024 Title while FMF Suva Team 1 was runners up after an electrifying final.
FGSA President Mr. Sanjay Patel was happy with the turnout for the Netball Tournament, Mr. Patel added that there’s a growing interest in female sports in the Gujarati community after the association introduced Netball into their annual sporting games.
“With eight teams in the competition, we have Lami, Rewa, and Suva this year.”“Some players from New Zealand were also playing, the competition was intense and there was an exciting atmosphere for all involved.”
Mr. Patel added that the main goal for the Tournament is to encourage Gujarati families to come together, enjoy the sport and have fun.
