Netball Fiji warmly welcomes Netball Australia and representatives of the Sunshine Coast Lightning and the Adelaide Thunderbirds for the Suncorp Super Netball Post Season Fiji Tour.
The tour is an initiative to engage and grow the game of netball within the Fiji community. It is supported under the PacificAus Sports Partnership.The Netball Australia representatives and the SSN players will immerse themselves in a packed week of activities in Fiji. They will be holding a series of Netball clinics, school visitations, Netball workshops, and an exhibition match with the Fiji Pearls.
The week-long tour will include a series of high performance workshops for umpires and athletes, including for umpire coach mentors.The tour culminates with two Fast5 exhibition matches on Saturday 13th August at the Vodafone Arena. The first match is between the Fiji Mens’ Selection at 1:30pm followed by a combined teams match where the Fiji Pearls selection will team up with Sunshine Coast and Adelaide Thunderbirds players to form the 2 teams.
Netball Fiji CEO, Vivian Koster, stated ‘We are privileged to have such an opportunity not only for fun-filled activities for netball enthusiasts but also the high performance workshops for our athletes and umpires.’
“The high performance workshops will be an opportunity for our athletes to learn from and share with counterparts in the Australian Super League’, Koster added.
‘The Fast5 exhibition matches should be exciting to watch as it is faster, fun and has more scoring opportunities,’ Koster concluded.
The SSN Tour is a fully funded programme by the Australia Department of Foreign Affairs in partnership with Netball Australia.The SSN athletes will also have the opportunity to meet with Australia’s Acting High Commissioner to Fiji and diplomatic staff while engaging the broader netball community through various media activities.
Netball Fiji also congratulates the Australian Diamonds for a successful Commonwealth campaign after clinching Gold in an epic final against Jamaica.
