The Fiji Pearls had settled into their hotel in Cape Town, South Africa, and wasted no time in resuming their training at the convention center.
Before their highly anticipated World Cup match against Tonga Tala, the team played warm-up matches against Jamaica on Sunday 23rd July, Malawi and Silver Ferns on Monday 24th. These matches provided valuable practice and help them fine-tune their strategies leading up to their pool games.
Netball Fiji CEO, Ms. Vivian Koster, expressed her satisfaction with the team’s preparation. She revealed that the team arrived in Cape Town on Friday morning after a long flight, but they managed to get some much-needed rest before hitting the courts for their training sessions.
“The players had the chance to rest and recover from the journey before hitting the court to continue their training,” Ms. Koster stated.
“It’s crucial for them to be in top form when they face tough opponents like Tonga Tala.”
With the team’s focus on getting into their best shape and building their chemistry on the court, the warm-up matches were seen as a crucial part of their World Cup preparations.
“We have a few warm-up matches lined up, which will be vital in assessing our strengths and identifying areas we need to work on,” Ms. Koster emphasized.
“The ultimate goal is to be fully prepared and give our best performance in the World Cup.”
