NewsCall for Expression of Interest

Netball Fiji is seeking expressions of interest from individuals to be the national technical manager for umpires and the national technical manager for technical (bench) officials.

The manager roles are voluntary. They provide opportunities for suitable applicants to support the growth and development of netball in Fiji. The managers will be expected to oversee the professional development of Netball Umpires and Technical officials all over Fiji, working closely with Netball Fiji and its member associations.

A suitable candidate will have:

1. in depth knowledge and experience of officiating at National Level (national championship/ national youth championship/ national men’s’ championship/Re-set/ Super Club). Experience at international officiating will be an advantage;
2. a strong understanding and application of the aims and objectives of Netball Fiji;
3. strong organizational skills, including budgeting and coordinating events;
4. ability to work collaboratively with others;
5. effective communication skills, both written and oral;
6. highly motivated to promote development of local officials;
7. willingness and ability to use current technology and work remotely;
8. ability to meet deadlines; and
9. commitment and time to fulfill the role.

The Key Responsibilities are:

• Maintaining a record of all Umpires and Technical Officials in netball Fiji.
• Working with Netball Fiji Sports Development Manager and district technical coordinators to arrange trainings, workshops, fitness testing, theory exams and other activities for the training and accreditation of all umpires and technical officials in Fiji at both National and Club levels.
• Maintaining an updated record of all programs completed by all umpires and bench officials in Netball Fiji.
• Facilitate allocation of officials for matches and tournaments upon request.
• Nominating officials for further trainings, programs and national tournaments.

Expressions of Interest must be written and outline the following:

• Which position you are applying for.
• Number of Years of officiating in netball (include major tournaments and events);
• Training and development workshops and other sports specific professional development programmes undertaken
• General professional development courses undertaken
