Previously known as the World Youth Netball Championships, the Netball World Youth Cup (since 2017) is the world championships of netball for national U21 teams, with all players being aged 21 years or younger.
The tournament has been held since 1988, with Fiji being the hosts of the 2nd tournament in 1992, where New Zealand were crowned winners. Fiji were awarded hosting rights to host the tournament for the 2nd time in 2021, however the tournament was cancelled due to the COVID19 global pandemic. Gibraltar Netball will hold the 2025 instalment of the Netball World Youth Cup.
Fiji last took part in the Netball World Youth Cup in 2017 held in Gaborone, Botswana, where a total of 20 nations took part. Fiji qualified for the quarterfinals after finishing 2nd in their pool behind England. Fiji finish fourth overall after losing to New Zealand the eventual winners in the semifinal and then getting beaten by England in the third place playoff.
Gibraltar Netball has been awarded the rights to host the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 (NWYC 2025). The tournament, will showcase the world’s top 20 teams aged 21 and under. It will take place in two main competition venues in Gibraltar – The Tercentenary Sports Hall and Europa Sports Park
